4,415 foreign-related trademark violations handled by AICs in the first half of 2008

In the first half of this year, Administrations for Industry and Commerce (AIC) at all levels
nationwide handled 4,415 foreign-related trademark violations, increased by 900 cases or
25.60% compared to the same period of last year.
Among foreign-related trademark violations, trademark infringement and counterfeiting cases
keep the dominant position. In the first half, a total of 4,354 cases of counterfeiting
foreign-related trademarks were handled, increased by 888 cases or 25.62% compared to the
same period of last year, accounting for 98.62%. 61 cases of general trademark offense were
handled, increased by 24.49% compared to the same period of last year, accounting for 1.38%.
The top five regions where most foreign-related trademark violations were handled are
Zhejiang Province (1,250), Guangdong Province (1,166), Shanghai (784), Fujian Province
(504) and Beijing (229). The sum comes to 3,933, making up 89.08% of all foreign-related trademark violations nationwide.
